Players must go home after school on Friday

Players must go home after school is dismissed on Friday, May 18th. No one will be permitted to remain on campus after school for the football scrimmage. Coaches will not be present to supervise any after school activity and no one will be allowed in the dressing room until 4:30pm.

upcoming AMS Football Scrimmage vs Robertsville INFO

Parents,

We will scrimmage Robertsville Middle School of Oak Ridge at Oak Ridge High School beginning around 5:30pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.  All players will stay after school and leave by bus around 4:30pm.  We expect to return to AMS around 8:00pm.

Players may need something to eat and drink brought to school before we leave for the scrimmage.  Each player will have to provide their own snack if they want one.

Admission to the scrimmage is $1.00 for spectators.  There will be concessions provided.  No one will be allowed inside the fence until after 5:00pm due to the Oak Ridge High School Track practice.  We are not scrimmaging on the High School game field.  The scrimmage will be played at a field on the Oak Ridge campus.   Directions to Oak Ridge High School are provided.

AMS Football Meeting Thursday April 26th

Parents/Guardians:

We will have a brief meeting for anyone whose child is interested in playing middle school football for the 2012 season. The meeting will be held on THURSDAY, APRIL 26th at 5:00 PM in the AMS GYMNASIUM. We will introduce the coaches, discuss spring practice, summer strength and conditioning, football camp and our fall season. We will also have a few forms to send home in the coming days so please try to attend. Any rising 6th through 8th grader is eligible to participate in football. We as that one parent or guardian please plan to attend the brief meeting. Spring practice will begin on MONDAY, APRIL 30th after school. Please check the school website or this site (AMS Football website) for more information. If you have any questions please contact the school at 865-982-5211.

**Sports Medical Physicals will be given on May 3rd at 5:30pm for all AMS Football players.**

Scrimmages added to the 2012 Schedule

Three AMS Scrimmages have been added to the season schedule. These games are listed on the calendar and will be announced in school for the players. The new additions are as follows:

Tuesday May 15th, Alcoa @ Robertsville Middle School @ 5:30pm (AWAY)

Friday May 18th, Alcoa vs Sequatchie Middle School @ 5pm (HOME)

Thursday August 2nd, Alcoa vs Cherokee (Kingston) Middle School @ 6pm (HOME)

2012 Team Weight Training to begin

2012 Football team weight training will be held each Tuesday and Thursday right after school from 3-4:30pm. Players must have a current TSSAA physical and permission form sign and on file with the coaches in order to participate. Forms can be picked up from Coach McClurg or Coach Flynn.

Banquet Scheduled Jan 14th, 2012

Get ready, the football banquet is now set in stone. Mark your calendars and plan on attending the AMS football banquet to honor our Undefeated 2011 SMAC Champions. 9-0 is one for the record books and we are excited to honor you boys. Please see Coach McClurg with any help you can give us as we prepare for the party.

Banquet Update

Due to the scheduling of various sports and holiday events that may make it impossible for all the boys to attend we have opted to move the middle school banquet from December to January 2012 after the break. This gives everyone a chance to attend and not be under the holiday hustle and bustle. The final date will be announced here as soon as we know so in the mean time please send in your forms so that we can get an accurate count.

AMS Banquet 2011

Parents/Guardians

We need help planning and organizing the middle school banquet for our Championship Team. If you are interested and can help in any way please let us know as it will be greatly appreciated. The banquet will take place in the AMS Commons area (lunchroom) at a date yet to be finalized but close to the winter break in Dec. This will give us time to get everything planned/organized/created/ordered for a fantastic event for our team. We need help with the following:

1. Potluck/Desert/Drinks/etc….. we need to know who is bringing what so we don’t have too many of the same thing.
2. Plates/Napkins/Cups/Plasticware
3. Decorations

Currently we are working on putting together either a highlight video or game compilation on DVD. We will have to charge for those to cover the cost. More info will be available as we get close to the banquet. Just keep an eye on the website for up to date info regarding this. Each player will receive a championship t-shirt and a trophy or memory keepsake.

If you are unable to help with the banquet, donations would be greatly appreciated. Make checks payable to “Alcoa Middle School Football Boosters”. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or need additional information. We need this information back as soon as possible. Yellow forms were sent home with the boys regarding this information to be returned today. We understand that not all parents/guardians received this so please email Coach McClurg mmcclurg@alcoaschools.net by the end of the week, 4th Nov 2011 so we can start getting things in order.
